The DMV110<\/strong> is a high-performance 3-axis vertical machining centre. It is recognised for its rigidity and precision on large-format components.<\/p>\n

Running several centres in parallel changes the daily reality of the workshop. Waiting times between machining operations decrease. Manufacturing lead times shorten. Responsiveness on urgent orders improves. Production peaks are absorbed and their impact on delivery schedules reduces.<\/p>\n

Connected to MOM’s ERP, it displays in real time the modifications made by the design office located in the same building. In turn, the DMV transmits its manufacturing progress to the ERP in real time, enabling precise tracking of production and machining times for each component.<\/p>\n

A direct impact on vertical auger manufacturing<\/h2>\n

One of the most concrete benefits concerns the manufacture of vertical augers<\/strong><\/a>. These are the central components of our powder filling machines<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The vertical auger conveys the powder and delivers the dose into the packaging. It comes in many versions. Diameter, pitch, length, geometry and number of flights vary depending on the product: proteins<\/a>, spices<\/a>, collagen<\/a>, bicarbonate<\/a>\u2026<\/p>\n

Manufacturing these augers in-house, with the required precision and within expected lead times, is a major challenge for MOM. Mastering the machining of these augers also allows great freedom in their design. In the past, this has made it possible to achieve particularly high dosing accuracy. Concretely, it is because MOM has designed and machined numerous trial augers that we have sold pharmaceutical powder filling machines for doses as low as 8 mg. The DMV110 directly increases our capacity to deliver on that.<\/p>\n

Machining precision in the service of packaging<\/h2>\n

In industrial filling, the precision of machined components directly impacts dosing consistency. A vertical auger with imperfect geometry generates dosing irregularities on the production line. Before the latest generations of machining centres, the feed blades of dosing augers were welded onto the screws. Welding reduced dosing consistency by a few tenths of a percent. Since augers have been machined from solid blanks, we have observed this improvement in dose accuracy, to the direct benefit of our customers and end consumers.<\/p>\n

MOM Packaging has always invested in high-level machining equipment. The DMG MORI DMV110<\/strong> follows this same logic: high-performance tools, precise components, reliable machines.<\/p>\n

A long-term service commitment<\/h2>\n

Investing in a new machining centre is a long-term commitment to our customers. A new machine provides greater availability and improves lead times on spare parts, even during peak activity.<\/p>\n

At MOM Packaging, in-house manufacturing has been a constant since 1927. First with a single motor driving belt-driven lathes. Then the Ernault Somua lathes and conventional milling machines that lined up in the workshop. Then the NUM numerically controlled lathes. And finally the DMG machining centres, from 3-axis up to continuous 5-axis, and CNC turning centres.<\/p>\n
